Fishing Good From 9 to 22 Feet!

5-22-2018
Tom Loe

Shallower areas of the lake in McGee Bay are now showing the start of weed beds on the bottom that were previously clean as of last report. Fishing has been good from 9′ all the way out to 22′, but why fish deep if you don’t have to? Winds from the storms and pre and post front conditions have slowed the bite or rather the midge hatch. Finding a sheltered section out of the wind can still keep you on fish throughout the day. McGee Bay in 9-15′, Six Bays in 17′, and the North Arm/Green Banks area in 16-20′ have been the most consistent. Crooked Creek and Big Hilton have been good some days and slow on others. Try #18 zebra and dark tiger midges in the mornings. #16 Copper Tigers and #18-20 Gillies have been good flies when the hatch is peaking. Some decent callibaetis hatches starting in McGee Bay. Play around with your depths throughout the day as the fish will settle into a specific depth or sweet spot.
