Skipper Rick Kelly docked Intrepid at Pt. Loma Sportfishing June 30 after a three-day trip with 23 anglers.
"We were slowed by the weather," he said. "We metered a lot of non-biters."
Troy Cox of Simi Valley took a 25.4-pound longfin for first place. He tossed a sardine on a 2/0 Mustad hook, and used 20-pound Izorline on an Avet MXJ reel and a Pacifica seven-foot rod to do the job.
Jeff Johnson of Canyon Lake brought his son Jefferey, six, into the lineup shot with his second-place 24-pounder. Mark Steinman of Camarillo found a 23.8-pound albie that was good for third place.
