Sam Patella took his American Angler to his secret island "honey hole," where his anglers found some beefy yellows. All the jackpot fish were over 50 pounds. On Sunday, June 29, he posted this:

"We started in Hot Albie grounds this morning (June 29), but today it wasn't so Red Hot. There is still a good spread of fish but the wind was up and for most of the day, the fish were down. We did have a couple of stops to make it worth our while, but as usual we wanted more! Kerry Way of Fayetteville, AR took first place for a 53-pound yellowtail, his best-ever. He said he got it with a mackerel on a 7/0 Mustad Hoodlum hook, 60-pound Big Game line, a Penn 30 reel and a Seeker 6465 XH rod.

Jack Purtell of Yorba Linda won second place for a 51.4-pound sardine-caught yellowtail and Russ Suzuki of Kula, HI bagged a 50.2-pounder for third place. Matt Fitch of Mission Viejo steeped into the lineup with his fourth-place 48.4-pound yellow.
