Another school of yellowtail showed up at San Martin Island 12 to 16 lbs. along with some nice calico bass and a few halibut. Still great fishing for rock cod and ling cod at the 240 spot. We sent one boat out 20 miles off the point to check for paddies and tuna. Water is clear and blue at 62 degrees, but no luck.

6-12-2008There were light winds during the week which died completely off by this morning (Thursday). Water temps have been 61 to 63 degrees. Water is clear--four (4) yellowtail caught this week at the 240, 15 to 20 lbs. Humboldt squid are still in great numbers and even bothersome after awhile. Things picked up for us last week. Winds were calm through the Memorial Day weekend but was blowing slightly on Monday, but not when I left Tuesday morning. Twelve boats were out with everyone getting limits of large rock cod and ling cod. The giant Humboldt squid have reappeared again which Captain Hector thinks may be a good sign for the yellowtail coming in. Mexican Navy is patrolling the area heavily and may board individual boats...... Read More
