A picture perfect end to our fishing time featuring a late afternoon/early evening hit on beautiful grade yellowfin while many more of their friends put on a carnival style aerial show for hours around the boat. Hurricane Bank is well known for it's evening action and display's of volume that defy all concept's of “normal”. When the fish around that tiny magnet in the middle of the most productive ocean on the planet decide to show themselves it's a sight never forgotten. Trophy grade yellowfin tuna blowing out everywhere from right next to the boat to half a mile and further beyond is uniquely motivating to an angler standing at the rail. The urgency to hook one of those beauties and jump in the game is the allure. The thump, then line peeling off the reel, then surge of adrenaline one feels when the gears are engaged is the reward. The the battle of course, and full bragging rights when one triumph's add to the story, as does enjoying the fruit of one's labor on the dinner table following return. But that moment of getting bit, mmmm – there is nothing better; that's the whole thing wrapped up in one. As all good things must come to an end we blasted off for the beach at nightfall thoroughly satisfied with our time on the outside and catch in the hold. It seems like a lifetime ago when we began this run with a fantastic couple of rounds on the wahoo at Alijos on the run down. But the variety they add to this catch both in style of fishing and back home on the table is not forgotten. So begins a couple of days steaming north relaxing, reminiscing, and planning for the next voyage and beyond. To that end Tracy informed me yesterday that we are down to four spots available on the December 26th - January 2nd seven day run to Isla Guadalupe. One last shot at fishing that magical island in 2016 is calling some lucky angler's names. As of yesterday we know that the fish are still there ready and waiting for a refrigerated boat ride home with your tag number on their gill plate. Give Tracy a call in the office to book your spot! Photo today features the silhouette of a long time Royal Star angler and friend who shares many years of rich fishing history on Royal Star. From local offshore to Clipperton Island this angler has a distinct style and rich sense of humor that adds flavor to every run. If you don't recognize this mystery angler I will share his ID and trophy landed in another photo tomorrow. Good Morning to all!
