A marked change of pace today to be sure. Trolling and drifting up wahoo in not so nice sea conditions stands in stark contrast to the easy livin' of targeting beautiful quality yellowfin in the flat calm lee of the giant island outside. But variety is what these fall ten day voyages are all about. In the desolate reaches of Rocas Alijos today we were exactly where we needed to be. And we picked up some nice wahoo and dorado as a result. To everyone's delight the sloppy sea conditions subsided right on schedule with the forecast leading into a much more confortable afternoon. Overall the fishing did not live up to our expectations. We never did see the better groups and schools of wahoo around the two main shallows. A scattered few fish here and there was what we had to work with from morning through early afternoon. Of course anything to work with is better than nothing, that lesson was learned long, long ago, so we set to getting done what we could ultimately abandoning the effort mid afternoon in favor of a change of scenery tomorrow. An ocean completely transformed closed the day along with a spectacular array of light and colors at sundown. Now ready to inflict some damage to anything that wants to bite our sights are set on variety and production tomorrow and beyond. Flat calm conditions will be stage as we ply the inside waters in search of the mother lode.
