Well today they excersized their right to be fickle, tease, and frustrate. A slow morning led to better sign – we thought, when up they pushed in from the deeps just before lunch time. Everywhere individual fish and small spots were visible instilling high hope that good times were soon to come. But the show was a only that. Thought they did move into the shallows for an hour or two they refused to get with our program. Marveling at just how many fish were crashing around and jumping in our near vicinity we were attendee's to a look only, no touch show. Very frustrating is how I would describe it, especially considering how good the same fish bit yesterday. We did manage to hook a few handfuls. But in the near precincts of Isla Guadalupe, patrolled mercilessly by heartless, hulking, payment extracting thugs, a few is not enough. I wouldn't say they won the battle today, we still came out ahead, but not by much. In the end we just didn't hook that many. They flat did not want to bite. But taking all into consideration we can not complain. Two days of solid catching and one that was off - pretty normal when viewed through the prism of fishing reality. The good side of it was that it made the decision to depart very easy. Southward bound at day's end we were content for now to leave ten miles of scattered jumpers behind. One day of relaxing travel and we'll be back at it shifting our focus to tropical varieties. Today's photo features one of the lucky ten angler's who bagged a worthy yellowfin tuna today. Long time Royal Star veteran Joe Siegal enjoyed the challenge and result when his eighty pound class dandy came over the rail.
