Lake Hours: 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. Effective April 1st.

Weather:??Temperatures have been in the 70's in the morning and rising to the high 80's in the afternoon. We did not have any severe winds this week.

Stop by the Marina and tell us about your fish!

Bass: Bass fishing just keeps getting better at DVL. Anglers were releasing countless fish with many anglers reporting their top five in the 30 pound range. The east dam and Rawson cove were the most reported spots by bass fisherman, most fish holding between 5 and 20 feet. Bass anglers reported that they could not keep the bass of their bait regardless of what was on their line. Drop-shotting purple or green worms, Carolina rigged brush hogs, watermelon or green pumpkin Senkos, and tube jigs were all reported as effective for bass. Barry Thompson of Moreno Valley got a 7 pound bass fishing the north shore with a senko. Branden Kim of rancho Santa Margarita got a 5.86 pound bass fishing the west dam with a Spro BBZ-1 swimbait. James Paxton of Yucaipa got a 7.10 pound bass drop shotting a Roboworm in the third cove to the right of the marina.

Trout: Shore anglers?? were experiencing a slower trout bite this week, but where they were lacking limits boaters reported an abundance of fish. Surface trolling the dams with needlefish or Rapalas or drifting night crawlers has been successful for boaters. ??Shore anglers did the best with Powerbait mini jigs and trout worms. Ryan Coe of Hemet got a 5.7 pound trout fishing from shore with a Kastmaster.
??
Striper: There were no striper reports this week?? Trout swim baits, Plugs or large topwater baits were the most reported lures for striper. Fishing points near the marina or on the inlet remain proven spots for boaters. ??

Catfish: There was a solid catfish bite this week. Great spots for catfish are the third cove of shoreline fishing, and near the east dam or wave attenuator. The most effective baits included anchovies, mackerel, and raw shrimp. Most catfish have been found on the bottom in 10-20 feet down. Jesse Dinkins of Hemet got the biggest catfish of the week weighing 7 pounds. He was fishing near the wave attenuator with anchovies.

Panfish: There were few panfish reports this week, but most anglers have the best luck fishing along the dams, specifically near the stairways. Anglers have found that fishing 20 -30 feet off the dams using live worm dropped to 25 feet has been a consistent method. Don Prescott of Chino got a 2.29 pound crappie fishing in Rawson cove with nightcrawlers.

The K-FROG Average Joe bass and trout derby was great for both species. The $1,000.00 winners for the trout competition were David Trevino with a 5.89, Juan Paz with a 5.92 , Brent Warf weighing 4.27, Brad Rhodes with a 3.70. DVL offers its congratulations to hard working angler Jesse Mena of Hemet who not only earned $1,000.00 for his 6.69 pound trout, but walked away with a boat valued near $10,000.00. Sunday the fishing was equally as strong but the names of the winners were not available at the time of this report.
