Artic water

A couple of hours of morning fishing produced little in the way of catching. Cold beach water, rolled over courtesy of the jumbo swell from the current blow on the outside, had far more of a winter signature than waters typical in the month of September. We spot fished our way up the coast easily gliding through the windless swell glad to be exactly where we were. In the end, contrasting dramatically with the outside paradise a few days prior, we closed out the voyage with some comical shallow water variety fishing, or “picking cactus” as I like to say. And that was that. We called it a trip late morning heading up the line in fine conditions satisfied with another epic catch of impressive quality yellowfin tuna from the outside. A rather incredible combination of weather conditions during this run illustrated our place in the grand scheme but fortunately had very little negative impact on production. We conclude this run grateful for the tremendous good fortune. Our most sincere gratitude is extended to Rob Duby and the entire “Redneck Rodeo” group whom make a good time of whatever conditions the ocean has to offer year after year. These anglers could put on a clinic on attitude and approach to fishing. Suffice it to say the catching is bouns. Being out on the deep blue enjoying time among like minded friends is always the foundation of a good time. Final voyage photo features Royal Star angler Constantin Arghiropol with one of his “stock” 75 pound class yellowfin tuna landed early in the run.
