Pacific Halis in Eureka - the end is near
9-20-2016
Marc Schmidt
Salmon season ended with limits for all including fish for the captain. Since then we have been doing pacific halibut and rockfish/ling trips and combos in the ocean and even some cali hali trips in the bay for the groups that want a short trip or not go into the ocean. Overall the fishing has been great on all fronts. I expected an announcement of the pacific halibut quota being met this week but have not heard of it yet so maybe we have another week. Anyway the Hali fishing has been strong since ot reopened in sept. We got 3 for 4 guys on weds, we had 5 nice ones including one for me in 2.5 hrs on Saturday before running for lings and Rockies at the cape and we had zero on the boat for 8 bites yesterday which was very frustrating. There are some ok weather days this week if the quota keeps going and you are looking for one last crack at them call me soon. All our action has been a tad south in 45 fathoms on godfather rigs with salmon and albacore bellies. Rockfish and lingcod remains open until the end of oct and I am putting trips together on a good weather basis. If you are looking for one last trip to put some meat in the freezer for the winter look me up and we will try to get you out. Marc 707-601-3474
