With our quantity and quality objectives satisfied we took advantage of the chance to fish easy, tag a few, let a few go, and take a revealing tour. Good enough weather opened the back door for a afternoon/early evening jaunt that nigh wore our camera lenses and shutters. Between the lighting and structure anyone paying attention could not but marvel at such natural beauty. A few stops along the way entertained the pure anglers whom enjoyed the shots at fired up yellows in at least one location. Plenty of hooting and hollering, coming mostly from yours truly, accompanied the fun as quality yellows smacked and chased the surface jigs insanely visible in the crystal blue, gin clear water. But all good things must come to an end. And end our time in the zone we did, with pleasure. Completely sated, with the exception of perhaps one or two anglers whose appetite for catching proved unlimited, more than anything anglers exuded a strong sense of relief when the call was made and the gear was being broken down. Abundant rail time and production took it's toll physically on everyone. A long, memory filled, respite now awaits these incredibly fortunate few until next time. Photos today feature Co-Chartermaster himself, and original founder of the annual Nakumura/Myers summer voyage that evolved from a four day twenty some odd years past into the present seven day, Mako Nakamura. At sixty nine years young Mako enjoys victory with this 100 pound plus dandy. Photo number two features long time Royal Star veteran “Yellowtail Bob” Hiyane who is uncanny in his ability to capture his quarry of choice on just about every Royal Star voyage.
