Coastal Success

The last hurrah – a morning of targeting yellowtail and coastal variety beyond the reach of offshore sea conditions – was a perfect fit. Not that we got roughed up on the outside, altogether this run has been pretty civil, but we never fail to make the best ride available if it fits into a logical game plan; in this case it did. And riding a notable wave of good fortune, we arrived at our planned destination around 0500, dropped the anchor blind, began catching shortly thereafter, and finished up with plenty of nice yellowtail and one bonus butt leaving still biting fish gladly behind. The fish Gods, and the right kind of fishing fortune, favored our efforts on this run to be sure. There were plenty of times that it didn't feel like it, this run was defined by fishing that was distinctly hot and cold, but the beautiful catch in the RSW tanks tells a tale of tremendous success. In closing our appreciation and gratitude is extended to voyage sponsors Tiburon, Costa Del Mar, and Chartermaster Bob Stenbro who has lead the charge on this annual run for many a season. By no coincidence the on deck atmosphere on this voyage is always exemplary. Photo today features master angler and stellar individual Clyde Wickham with one of the fine grade yellowtail we enjoyed landing this morning.
