Perfection

8/3/15 A pretty special day of fishing here in every respect. There are those rare occasions when everything is right. Today fell square into that category. Tucked into a scenic corner that offered full protection from all swell and seas we remained stationary for nearly fourteen hours fishing and catching to our heart's content. Quality yellowtail and a few flurries on beautiful croakers kept anglers engaged and eager and lulls in the action allowed plenty of time to relax and enjoy. Rarely does quality fishing come without a fight. “It's always something” is among our go to sayings to mitigate the frustration of our daily battles with Mother Nature. Every day out here is spent chasing this one; a day when all the components of perfection fall into place. I don't know what the exact percentage of these occasions to the rest of the time is but it is very low. So we take it stride - this isn't the first time that the stars have aligned in our favor, and it won't be the last, but it never hurts to recognize good fortune when it smacks one on the nose. Not looking to end this run in paradise until the fish force our hand we're riding this zone as long as we are able. Time remains in our favor and motivation to land a few more of these 20 – 25# yellowtail and 35 – 59# Sea Bass is high. Photos today first feature father daughter duo Craig and Liana Heberer with a couple of nice yellows that began their stellar day, and Mike Ives with yours truly and his 58# White Sea Bass.
