Father's Day and Weekly Wrap-up!

Channel Islands Sportfishing

Great fishing for our Father’s Day anglers! Check out our fish counts page to see who got bit and who didn’t. Overall, an excellent day to end a busy weekend and awesome fishing week! Breaking it down, here is a quick report on this past week.

The game-fish kept biting for both the inner and outer island fleet but early on it seemed the local boats would have the upper hand. with Yellows blowing up at Anacapa and Santa Cruz Island. Using surface jigs, boats like the Cobra, Sea Jay, Island Tak and Aloha Spirit were loading up on Yellows ranging from 22-35 pounds. The hot jig has got to be the Salas 7x lite in three colors popular colors. Mint and Scrambled Egg have been hot, but Green Sardine otherwise known as "Bird Sh*t" have been working too. At the outer islands, the overnight boats seemed to have had a solid grip on the White Seabass bite until it turned off over the weekend. Boats like the Mirage, Pacific Islander and Seabiscuit catching most of the fish on the week day’s but in true “WSB” form, they seemed to take the entire weekend off. On Father's Day however, the overnight boats got into a Yellowtail bite and had it all to themselves at an undisclosed location. This was a pleasant surprise seeing Sunday’s count of Halibut, Seabass, Yellows and of course a bunch of Big Reds and other Rockfish coming from the overnight boats. Honestly though, it seems either way you can’t go wrong fishing this area right now.

The upcoming week may be very interesting considering the way this past one ended. Stay in tune with what’s going on by following us on Facebook or by checking our landing page www.Ciscos.com on a regular basis. Now more than ever, it is important to speak with a representative about tackle requirements for your specific trip. Also, call and book soon as space is very limited when the bite’s hot. This is already turning out to be an epic year and we aren't even half way through the season!
