Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Fish Report
4-30-2015
Larry Edwards
According to Captain Temo Verboonen, the billfish are biting and cooperating very well with the anglers fishing from Zihuatanejo, and includes both, blue marlin and sailfish, along with a new infusion of quality dorado here and there. Temo said the offshore fishing regained it's momentum this past week and just gets better and better with the passing days. The inshore fishing was just so-s0 and had slowed up due to cold, green water along the coast. Still, the bigger jack crevalle and bonito continue to bite bu it just isn't near as good as it was and unfortunately, the roosterfish seemed to have vanished for now. Next weekend is the big XXXII International Fishing Tournament and we expect a big crowd for that special event. Stay uned for the report for that tournament event.
IZ Climate: A mostly sunny, clear and warm week with a few occasional passing clouds and temps that ranged from 74 nights to 91 daytime highs and a 62% humidity ratio.
Sea Conditions: Sea temps cooler and greener inshore at 83 degrees. Rising in the offshore waters to 86 degrees and very clean water at about 14-15 miles out front of the Bay.
Best Fishing Area: Beginning at about 15 miles out front of the Bay and expanding to a wide area of cooperating fish in the area. The inshore fishing was just so-so as the waters were cooler and much greener and the fish were not biting near as well.
Best Bait/Lure: The offshore fishing was very good on the rigged baits for the sailfish and a few dorado and the blue marlin were best on the larger rigged baits and bonito.
Bait Supply: The bait supply has been excellent for both, fresh baits for rigging and live baits for the inshore jack crevalles
