A lot of history here: past exploits, trials by sea, enduring friendships formed in the best of, and most challeging, fishing circumstances. This is an extraordinary group of fishing friends, all of whom have contributed to the success of the annual -Las Rocas- voyage that began in 2006. Hosted by the tireless Glenn Evans enough can not be said about why this run is eagerly anticipated by Royal Star crew and Las Rocas anglers alike.

The group mind, all focused on the correct objective of making a fantastic time of whatever opportunities manifest, dictates high achievement before the fishing even begins. What isn't amazing are the above average fishing results that more often than not compliment this timeless foundation. Good follows good, and the opposite follows - enough said.

We departed in the early a.m. with the right load of bait at the right place and time. One leg in the surf we traversed the first thirty miles south buffeted by precisely forecast 25- 40 knot North East winds. Snuggled up to the beach the stiff breeze did little to disrupt our peace providing a scenic tour of the Rosarito corridor well known for producing such conditions. Plenty of past practice with these conditions dictated that we would be well beyond the local tempest by late afternoon; and such was the case.

A warm evening of flat calm - grease smooth seas drew one and all to the aft deck to kick off the voyage in reverie and celebration. Spirits were soaring and flowing as the official seventh annual -Las Rocas- 15 day voyage commenced in appropriate form. These anglers are ready to go content to enjoy the first day of travel before getting their wahoo hats on. Vamos a -Las Rocas-!
