We looked at plenty today, actually more than plenty of both yellowfin and bluefin tuna; getting them to bite was the challenge. Ultimately they did cooperate, not in huge numbers but enough to validate the effort, and most importantly enough to motivate anglers by revealing the true potential. A couple of handfuls of bigger bluefin came over the rail courtesy of American waters while their smaller, school size yellowfin buddies took up the slack between runs on numerous good zones.
Taking timing and good weather into account another offshore outing fits our bill to perfection. The potential for all things grand is as good as we can find. Photos today feature angler Edith Yamasaki with her first yellowfin tuna ever landed in perfect offshore conditions, and Royal Star veteran Glenn Itano, who was among the chosen few to triumph in a battle with one of these eighty pound class Bluefin tuna.

Between the local sign of yellowfin tuna, primo weather this stretch of water is known for, and consistent availability of bigger bluefin on the American side of the border benevolent fortune is a prevailing local theme long overdue.
