After successfully topping off our bait supply last night in preparation for good things to come a short passage just after
dark led to our favorite recent early morning zone that has been so consistently productive during the past couple of weeks.
In addition to some excellent night time yellowtail and white sea bass action I have to admit that the flat calm, lee side of
the island is an attraction on its own. There is nothing quite like the sweet peace of night spent in calm anchorage.

The early morning fishing today was the real story. As in previous outings the bewitching hour arrived early and anglers not
already at the party were rousted and encouraged to join in the fun. Enthusiastically heeding the call the vast majority
scrambled and immediately began catching 18 - 25# yellowtail to their heart's content. It wasn't near the result as the
previous outing but it didn't need to be; plenty of yellows already down were supplemented with almost exactly what we wanted
to add. It was good fishing, and catching, for all at the rail.

Winding down just after daylight we were still in the market for a few more if they wanted to bite. As it turned out they
didn't, and we really weren't too wrought up by it. We scratched a handful more here and there but things were obviously
different today. In the end our morning hit proved fortuitous - it set us in fine shape to enjoy a day that would have
otherwise been challenging.

A couple three hours of poking along spot fishing the shallows produced a few shots at premium grade, trophy yellowtail,
plenty of release size yellows that were almost annoyingly eager to bite, and an easy late morning/early afternoon of leisure
fishing perfect for this group of anglers still nursing a few sore spots from the prior three days of catching.

Now for the final round offshore as we work our way back north. Bluefin tuna will again be at the top of the docket as we
head toward the same zone discovered on our ride south that continues to produce epic fishing on 30 - 60# fish with a good
dose of 15 - 20 pound youngsters mixed in. Different than our last go the effort tomorrow will be graced with primo conditions -
calm wind and seas. History suggests that such a combination bodes well for those in the market for offshore bluefin tuna.
We'll see how this round goes. Regardless of tomorrow's results we are in good shape, very good.

Photos today feature two youth anglers who have both been on top of their game catching bluefin tuna and yellowtail on pace
with the seasoned veterans on board. Kyle Suezaki, who already had his moment in the spotlight once this voyage, earned the
distinction again today in solid form. Wrestling this forty two pound "home guard" from an area fraught with peril Kyle
bested the odds big time with this catch. Young Captain Jimmy Merrill does the lifting honors equally sharing in the joy of
the moment.

Photo number two features young Trevor Sebring who at the ripe old age of twelve handles himself like a pro in every respect.
If you spend any time around the landings you might recognize Trevor as the son of Fisherman's Processing Managing Partner
Sean Sebring. Trevor is quite a hand during unloading's down at the dock as well as at the shop. But, as demonstrated in
today's photo, he'd rather be fishing. Here is the budding young man with one of his several twenty two pound class yellows
landed today.

8/12/13 The exact pace yellowtail fishing we were looking for; one to five hooked with the occasional flurry for more added up to an ideal morning. Fishing age old areas amazing for their consistency of production over the past fifty, perhaps more like seventy, years it was another of those classic ambles down the good side of memory lane. When the action on yellowtail slowed to an occasional one or two the call for variety sounded. In the idyllic setting a late...... Read More
