Royal Star

With so many photos to share I have to get a move on before the new summer season is upon us and the photos posted return to current adventures. As such angler Rick Walsh does the honors today. One quote from Rick that I will never forget must be shared. As he was completely new to San Diego style long range fishing he began the trip at square one becoming familiar with the equipment, live bait fishing, the routine, basically the whole nine yards. It was an education in fishing that transformed his entire perspective. The quote was very close to "this trip has changed my whole idea of fishing". To see our fishery and the Revillagigedo tagging project enlighten and energize an individual like Rick is confirmation of our success as sport fishermen; particularly in the world of long range fishing. After twenty two years of sights and experiences at sea literally beyond description, the genuine pleasure for me now is introducing and sharing this amazing environment with others. A quote like the one above to me is worth a thousand words. Thanks Mr. Walsh for reminding me of how spectacular this opportunity is. And, congratulations on a great voyage and your first giant yellowfin that taped out a 213#.

The expressions of pure jubilance and satisfaction are beaming from Warren in the round of photos today and rightly so. I have fished with Warren for at least ten or twelve years and have always respected his dedication at the rail, fisherman's sense, and ambition of landing a three hundred pound...... Read More

Enough can not be said about the contributions to Royal Star tagging projects made by master angler Len Cunningham. At seventy six years young the old school angling skills employed by Len are worthy of pure admiration and respect. His record of yellowfin tuna released in the name of science continues to grow with 62 this voyage including a 218 and a handful of other mid one hundreds. I spoke of Len's character during the voyage and can only add...... Read More
