Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

Well we're feeling both a strong sense of relief as well as pride as our grand re-power project was put to the test yesterday in the official sea trial administered by Cummins Marine. The result? Absolutely flawless operation of all systems with both engines delivering results well within the expected parameters. The best news was no surprises. We definitely don't like those; especially when it comes to testing new systems and equipment. After driving up and down San Diego bay at full throttle and a wide spread of other velocities for several hours yesterday and Monday I can report that Royal Star is running smoother in every respect. Every system is now exactly how we want it with no after thoughts marring our clean installation. With the major portion of the project completed and our time line well in hand, our focus is now on tying up the many remaining loose ends in preparation for our final inspection by the U.S. Coast Guard on Monday the sixth and the upcoming Revillagigedo tagging voyage departing on April 12th. Rest assured that we will be ready and looking forward to a good shakedown voyage with the brand spanking new machinery we had the pleasure to install.

As such, a Revillagigedo tagging voyage was a natural and a huge hit as Stuart released giant yellowfin after giant...... Read More

As Rodney had the honors yesterday, it is only appropriate that Ken Volk is featured today. First of all I, and certainly almost every angler on the February Revilla tagging voyage, am very grateful for Ken's contribution of numerous cases of delicious wine that he produces and markets under his name. In addition to being generous, Ken introduced many anglers to the fine points of wine tasting and/or consumption and the festive atmosphere brought about by the shared camaraderie of...... Read More
