Royal Star Fish Report

Royal Star

We passed the day bumping up the line in diminishing wind and seas while continuing the offshore search in hopes of finding some nice dorado to round out our catch of quality yellowtail from Isla Cedros. As luck would have it, the first kelp we encountered was the best and exactly what we were looking for producing a nice round of action on mixed grade dorado with some fish up to twenty pounds. After our "lucky" morning kelp, the action came to a virtual standstill as our fruitless search for kelps ate up the clock that was ticking off our valuable final couple of hours of fishing time. Thankfully, just before our time ran out, mastman extrordinaire Joey Conrad added to his long list of successes finding the "going home" kelp that finished off our fishing time on a high note.

Now we begin the trek up the line in weather that continues to improve as I write. We depart tomorrow on our annual "Michael Quezambra" five day charter looking forward to the fantastic group of anglers Mike always brings along. Look for the next voyage reports to continue daily as I have the pleasure of command once again.

With the day's success in the bank, we departed for the northern sector, planning to resume the offshore search with high hopes of mixing up our catch...... Read More

Conditions were far from extreme however, and we are well accustomed to working in whatever mother nature metes out, so the show went on with a decent day of kelp action on ten to twenty pound yellowtail with a couple of handfuls of nice dorado in the mix for color.
