Well, it was definitely all it was cracked up to be with the morning Santa Ana winds howling while we clawed for altitude making a beeline for the coast. In doing so, we substantially minimized the angry sea state while appreciating the amazing spectacle of what forty to fifty knots of wind does to the ocean surface. The good news is that the typical scenario for the off shore winds in this region held true and by 11:00 a.m., we were enjoying another flat calm stretch of ocean in a picturesque ride up the northern Baja coast. There is nothing like a little rock and roll to make us appreciate the ocean in her better moods.

So the ride up the line continues and our arrival tomorrow will be followed by one night at the dock before departing again tomorrow on our next ten day voyage. With a "perfect" ten day trip featuring a fine catch of seventy five to one hundred thirty eight pound yellowfin, a good shot of gorgeous wahoo, epic action on big dorado, good action on ridge class, fifteen to twenty pound yellowfin, and finally, a nice finish with big, Cedros class yellowtail, we head out again tomorrow hoping our timing is on the mark. Needless to say, we are charged up by Captain Brian Kiyohara's reports from the big fish zone down below indicating the significant change we have all been waiting two months for appears to have finally occurred. Time will tell of course and you can rest assured that the zone, weather permitting, will be getting plenty more coverage on upcoming voyages. Look for our reports to continue on the sixth.
