Yesterday was the perfect occasion for all anglers to yank and pull to their hearts content as the school size yellowfin were in the mood to bite and we were in the mood to accommodate them. Indeed the action was therapeutic after our three and one half day stint at Alijos saw the bigger yellowfin display the more fickle side of their nature and reluctance to bite. Such was not the case yesterday with the eager fifteen to twenty five pound tuna ravenously devouring any and everything that hit the water for a span of almost three hours. With a fine load of tuna in the bank, we prospected the remainder of the day targeting wahoo and various ground fish with limited success. This in no way affected group or individual spirits however as the wide open morning action satisfied the day's catching expectations. With our time in this zone at an end, we ultimately continued the trek north, planning to target yellowtail somewhere along the stretch we refer to as the "beach" tomorrow. For most of the day we will seek yellowtail and other bottom species before our fishing time on this voyage expires. Good weather forecasts are thankfully promising a pleasant ride up the line.

We finished our time at Alijos in fine shape although the tuna, for the most part, took the morning off leaving the stage to the "ballslappers" and beautiful grade yellowtail that fortunately occupied angler's time while waiting for the tuna to get with the program. The yellowfin never really did cooperate and that fact, in addition to the weather steadily improving, made the decision to vacate Alijos a natural. So off we go with a nice beginning in the hatch...... Read More
