Not exactly the ending we were hoping for as our elevated status following yesterday's fantastic yellowfin action was corrected and we were once again demoted to the world of mortal men. The very important bright side of the equation however was the most beautiful, flat calm, perfect for offshore prospecting weather one could hope for that in many ways, especially compared to our last two days offshore, was reason to celebrate alone. All kidding aside, we took a long shot searching far outside the beaten path hoping to encounter a new area of albacore or bluefin in the kind of quantity that would get the job done for all of us. Every once in a while, such missions, successful or not, are necessary not only for our survival, but the survival of our fleet. In this case call it taking one for the team, but for every time it doesn't work out, there will be a another that does. Fortunately we were able to accomplish yesterday's scouting run with a beautiful load of fish in the RSW tanks and came away from our first "Skunk" of the season relatively unscathed. So we return tomorrow with a fantastic, thoroughly satisfied group of anglers and depart on our next five day looking to maintain the momentum of good fishing encountered this voyage. Captain Randy Toussaint and I will be teaming up next trip so look for reports from our combined efforts to continue.
