Royal Star

It seems that offshore tuna luck is on our side this trip as we pieced together a nice final afternoon on the beautiful quality yellowfin tuna that we have been enjoying throughout September. It was far from the rip roaring pace of our first day's version of extreme offshore tuna fishing, but no one was disappointed as the "plunker" style action enabled everyone to put some good time in at the rail and have their efforts rewarded accordingly. In the end we ended up with a fine trip featuring a fantastic catch of quality yellowfin tuna with a decent sprinkling of trophy yellowfin from Guadalupe and yellowtail mixed in.

Now we return to San Diego to reload and re supply departing on our annual Ventura Sportfishing Club five day tomorrow. We are breaking out the big guns as Captain Randy Toussaint and I are teaming up to cover all the bases on this next voyage. Overall the picture still looks good with plenty of fish offshore and the islands continuing to kick out respectable scores of yellowtail. With a little luck and decent weather, we are hoping to get a few more shots at these beautiful offshore yellowfin and some of that epic Guadalupe quality.

The question of course is what is going to happen here over the next few weeks; the answer is uncertain. I don't doubt that there will be more good fishing for yellowfin here in the near future but...... Read More
