Following our epic day of yellowtail action below, we headed up the line to try at our hand at the elusive bluefin that had been giving the entire long range fleet a fair share of grief, and then some, over the past few days. Like our brethren long rangers, we saw them and we saw them good but catch them we did not. Unfortunately it boiled down to about two hours of incredible show then the fish spread out into singles and small groups that wanted nothing to do with us and our offerings snubbing thier noses at all our efforts. With our best attempts unrewarded and the vast majority of the bluefin vanishing, our consolation was good fishing for the same beautiful grade of albacore that we saved room for at the beginning of our voyage. We wanted all our anglers to enjoy plenty of these incredible specimens from the RSW tanks and our goal was thankfully met.

We were actually hoping the pace of action would be a little less hectic than our first day of albacore fishing allowing us the opportunity to produce the highest quality fresh product possible by paying the close attention necessary to each individual fish. As it turned out, we caught the final one hundred twenty fish from a couple of long "plunker" bites where the pace was ideal for this pursuit. In addition, it is always nice to work at it a little bit savoring the glory of one's success as well as the setting you are in. Spekaing of the setting, the weather offshore was about as beautiful as it gets the past few days with crystal clear atmospheric conditions that produced not only calm seas but crisp, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets that were immortalized not only in many memories but in many a photo as well.

WIth our voyage finished and a little sea rising, we headed up the line in preparation for our turn around tomorrow when the "Barking Spiders" will again take the stage with Captain "Lucky" Toussaint at the helm. Old "Lucky" has developed quite a knack for incredible timing on the big bluefin and as the fish have been down for a couple of days the stage is set for the spiders to have their day.
