Congratulations to Chris Martin (top center photo) who caught his 1st Fish which was an awesome Rainbow Trout. Chris fished near the dam and used Nightcrawlers. Nightcrawlers are working well right now, I don't know maybe the fish are tired of feeding on Shad and need a change. Variety is a good thing, that's why we have 13 flavors of Ice Cream!! I know everyone knows about our huge Ice Creams .....

John English of Marysville worked extra hard to take 2 trout home on Saturday. He caught the first one at 7am on Powerbait and not another hit until 1 pm. The second one was 2 lb. 12 oz. Rainbow Trout which he caught on a Nightcrawler. On Sunday Makayla McClintock of Chico was fishing from a boat near the island and caught a Florida Bass using Nightcrawlers.

Our surface temperature is 62 degrees which means the lake is "turning over". When the lake turns, the temperature is the same from top to bottom and the thermocline has gone. The thermocline only appears after the lake "warms up" again which won't occur until late spring. With the absence of the thermocline, the trout are now EVERYWHERE and not deep where they hide during the summer when the surface temperature is too high for their survival.

As of 10/12 we abandoned the main boat launching ramp until the lake fills up more. We have an alternate launch ramp which is graveled and will accommodate 2 wheel or 4X4 trucks. The alternate ramp is located close to our dam at Road 6. For campers who have Motorhomes and want to bring their boats, we will be launching them and taking them out for you at no cost to you during this period of time.
