The Albacore fishing is wide open right now about 50-60 miles from Santa Cruz. I went out around 10:00 am and got into fish after trolling for 2 minutes at 37'01/122'57. We ended the day with fish still biting around 37'01/123'04. The scores ranged from 15-40 fish a boat and I think the party boat ended the day with 90 fish. The water was flat calm all day long! There are still a few Salmon being caught in the Soquel Hole down deep. The Rockcod fishing is still going good for anglers working from Natural Bridges up to Ano Nuevo. The Marine Protected Areas will be in Effect Sept. 21 up near Ano Nuevo. There are some Seabass still being caught in Capitola along with a few Halibut. The water is expected to stay flat for a few more days.

The Rockcod fishing was great for the anglers who worked near 4 Mile Beach on the edge of the kelp beds. There are a bunch of Barracuda being caught in Capitola along with a occasional Seabass. The weather looks good for a Albacore run for the next 3 days....... Read More

The Salmon bite is still going decent for the anglers who are working the Soquel Hole. The best bet has been trolling Purple Haze Hoochies or Red R.S.K's down 120-200 feet down. The water was a little lumpy but there were some anglers who worked Ano Nuevo and had some decent scores of Rockcod. The wind and swell is stopping boats from going offshore. Maybe by this Saturday or Sunday we can run for the Albacore. ...... Read More
