Dwayne Patenaude chartermastered the Vagabond 10-day San Diego Anglers Club trip that returned to Pt. Loma Sportfishing October 21 with skipper Mike Lackey. He had a good trip, but his wife Debbie had the best one of the 16 passengers on the boat, as she produced the biggest tuna and the best wahoo.
The big skin, a 70.6-pounder, bit her home-made bomb in purple and red near a paddy north of The Ridge. Gordon Lackey helped her out in the lineup shot by posing with that impressive wahoo.
Debbie's tuna weighed 116 pounds, and took a sardine on a 4/0 Eagle Claw hook. She fished with 50-pound Stren fluorocarbon leader and 65-pound Spectra on a TLD 20 reel and a Calstar 6455 XH rod.
Fred Dunham of Spring Valley won second place for an 86-pound tuna, and Dylan Palmer of Santee was third, for a 79.8-pound yellowfin tuna.
