The B&G Hay charter aboard the Qualifier 105 with skipper Joe Crisci returned to Pt. Loma Sportfishing August 28.

"We spent two and a half days fishing at Cedros," said Joe, "and we picked up a few rockfish on the beach."

"We awoke this morning to a gorgeous sunrise and clear skies," wrote Joe August 26. "The YT's continued to bite very good and the grade could be described as lunker size.?? We are definitely bringing home some very sore anglers after another day of pulling on big yellows.?? After a long day of pulling and winding on big fish nothing sounds better then a big hearty dinner.?? The boys in the galley served up a masterpiece with homemade lasagna, garlic bread and artichoke that filled everyone to the bursting point."

John VanDyke of Fallon NV won first place, for a 33.8-pound yellowtail he bagged with a sardine on a 2/0 VMC hook and 40-pound Big Game line. He said he used a Penn 4/0 reel and a six and a half-foot Sabre rod.

Sam Lewis of Chino was second for a 31.8-pounder, and Mike Stelzer of Bakersfield tied him with another 31.8-pound yellowtail. They split second and third place winnings.
