Santa Rosa Style Catching aboard The Mirage

Sportfishingreport.com proudly hosted another great charter aboard Joe Villareal's beautiful MIRAGE out of Port Hueneme Sportfishing. Well, there's not a whole lot left to be said about this Vessel's impeccable Captain and Crew! Their reputation, professionalism, service, commitment to excellence, and relentless efforts pretty much sum it up and says it all. For the anglers who have experienced the Mirage, you know exactly what I'm talking about. For those of you who haven't been fortunate enough to fish aboard the Mirage, stop reading now and pick up the phone! This family owned and operated sportboat is hands down one of the finest on the water!
We shoved off from Port Hueneme with 21 salty anglers and immediately began raffling off 25 and 30 pound leaders of Seaguar Fluorocarbon as well as the standard issue SFR T-Shirts we give away on our Charters. We arrived at the fishing grounds in the wee hours of the morning and the first thing I noticed was that all passengers were on deck with a rod in hand, ready to fish. I overheard a Crew member whispering into another Crew member's ear, "Boy this is great, we have an eager crew on board today!" That's right, eager to land a Grey Ghost or possibly any other exotic we could get our hands on! After an hour of relentless early morning fishing, the squid found us! We whipped out our Candy Catchers and started snagging squid. We filled up the bait tank with live squid and had our drags and lines tested by several pesky Bat Rays, Sharks, as well as some Barracuda. A few Flatties were also caught along with some awesome Santa Rosa grade Rockfish, but I'll let the pictures do the talking! Keep your eyes open for future SFR Charters aboard the MIRAGE or simply call Port Hueneme Sportfishing and tell them SFR sent you! You won't be disappointed! (805) 488-2212
