Wide Open Barracuda aboard the Island Spirit

8-15-2007
Homan Khaki

The Barracuda have been on the chew so I jumped on a ?? Day trip aboard the Island Spirit out of Captain Hook's Sportfishing. It was a little bumpy on our way out of the Channel, however the water laid down and we had nice conditions once we passed the oil rig Gina.

As soon as we arrived at the fishing grounds, deckhands Jeff Bunde and Ryan Conlin setup our chum line and we had a wide open Barracuda bite! We sat on the school for approximately two hours for an all you can handle session. When the bite slowed down, we headed over to the backside of Anacapa and loaded up on some fish tacos!

There's still some great mixed bag fishing out of Captain Hook's, give Jeff Grodin a call and sign up while it's still HOT! 805-382-6233
