Cisco's Count & Report - Saturday 11-15-14

Channel Islands Sportfishing

If you like bottom fishing for nice reds and such, get on a boat now! Rockfish of all sorts with perch, whitefish, sheephead and lot's of lingcod. All the boats came back with extra large fillet bags. Even the 1/2 day Speed Twin handed out fillet bags that look like they should have been on an overnight trip. No exaggeration, the bottom bite is hot right now! In the early morning, the full day boats have put in time fishing for yellowtail before moving deep. The cobra has not loaded the boat with them, but seems to always catch a couple 30+ pound yellowtail to start the day.

Today's Fish Count: 10 boats and 190 anglers
1588 Rockfish, 1 Halibut, 2 Yellowtail, 7 Bonito, 118 Lingcod, 96 Whitefish, 38 Sheephead, 1 Rock Sole, 29 Halfmoon, 1 Cabezon, 36 Calico Bass and 12 Sand Dabs.

The weather was nice today but it's supposed to be breezy for the next couple days. Sunday looks normal but starting Sunday night into Monday we are supposed to get a Santa Ana condition. Probably not strong enough to effect our neck of the woods, but inland they have red flag warnings. Rarely does the Santa Ana Winds hurt our chances of getting the boats out fishing. In fact it can make the sea flat calm at the islands.

Sunday looks really lite, passenger counts down. Enough to run, but looks more like a weekday. The upcoming week everything is mellow, so no worry about fishing on a packed boat. Give us a call and talk to one of our representatives about what type of trip you want and what to bring. Call (805) 382-1612
