Fish Report for 10-5-2014
Big Yellows go crazy on Sunday!
10-5-2014
Channel Islands Sportfishing
What an ending to a beautiful weekend! Some of the boats with limited loads targeted yellowtail while others had large groups and charters load up on tasty rockfish, sheephead and whitefish. All the boats enjoyed perfect weather.. warm and sunny with a glassy ocean!
The boats going for yellowtail had good success landing a large percentage of fish hooked, however countless fish were lost to tangles and break-offs.
Today's Fish Count: 9 boats and 245 anglers
72 Yellowtail, 29 Calico Bass, 3 Bonito, 101 Whitefish, 59 Sheephead, 1390 Rockfish, 3 Opaleye, 21 Lingcod, 3 Cabezon, 7 Sculpin, 1 Sand Bass, 1 Spiny Lobster, 2 Spider Crab and 23 Red Rock Crab.
Tomorrow the weather again looks ideal and we have several boats going out targeting yellowtail. When fishing these grumpy yellows, we can not stress enough how important it is to make sure you have the proper tackle and fresh line. If you have any tackle questions please ask one of our office staff when making your reservation.
