The Tournaments Are On!

This is THE year to fish Bisbee's Tournaments to show your support!!

It's time for some good news. No, make that great news. Thanks to the generosity of our anglers and the rapid response of the hurricane relief efforts, I'm happy to say the Los Cabos Offshore and Black & Blue Marlin Tournaments are totally on and we're doing everything we possibly can to make them epic tournaments! That's right, we are going ahead as planned, starting with the LCO kick-off October 17. A lot of teams have already stepped up by pre-registering and more are coming in every day, which is awesome.

In the meantime repair crews and volunteers in Cabo have made incredible headway dealing with the storm's aftermath. The San Jose airport is resuming normal operations next week and the airport in La Paz is fully open and only a little over an hour away on the new four-lane highway. More than 6,000 hotel rooms will beready for occupancy by the start of the tournaments. IGY marina is operating normally and will have the majority of their slips ready with fuel and ice. IGY is also offering a 10 percent discount for moorage to tournament boats. The restaurants, shops, banks and other businesses are back to normal. The recovery has really been tremendous, but there's one more boost that's desperately needed--all of you! The working folks of Cabo depend on our tournaments every year to earn a livelihood and we can't disappoint them. They need the economic stimulus tourism and sport-fishing provides.

So that's why we're launching the Cabo Charterboat Hook-up! Here's how it'll work. On a first-come, first-served basis the first 20 teams that agree to hire a local Cabo charter boat crew to fish the Black & Blue will have their $5,000 tournament entry fee paid by an anonymous benefactor whose goal is to get as many Cabo crews working as possible. Full details of the offer will be outlined on www.bisbees.com, but in a nutshell the offer is good for the base entry fee only and does not include jackpot entries or any other expenses. It's open to any anglers who would like to participate, as long as they agree to hire a local charter boat that will be randomly assigned in a public drawing just before the tournament.

We're going to screen the boats to make sure they meet all safety certifications, have tackle and crew and be between 30 and 40 feet length overall. The boats must commit to the full three days of the B&B. Teams will be responsible for bait, meals and incidentals. If any of the participating Hook-up boats win in any eligible categories, the prize money will be distributed according to the normal tournament rules.

This is a win-win-win situation for everyone. The Bisbee's Cabo Charterboat Hook-up offer will provide a positive jolt to the city and the sport-fishing industry at a time when it's needed the most. On top of that, anglers who have always dreamed of fishing the Black & Blue will have the chance to do so while helping a good cause. And every time a fee is paid by our generous patron, the prize money increases for the ultimate winners.

So get on-line and get registered if you haven't already! Now is the time to give back to the Cabo we all love. The recovery is well underway. The hotels, restaurants and now the boats are all ready for you. This will be THE Bisbee's to fish. In future years YOU can say that YOU stepped up to the plate and supported the town you love when it needed us the most.

Even though the marina and downtown are nearly back to normal many of our Cabo friends and families still need our help. The Bisbee's Cabo Relief Fund will continue collecting tax-deductible donations and the tournaments will be a huge boost towards full recovery. So please join us for both the LCO and the Black & Blue. Thanks!

See you where the fish are waiting...
