Baja Pirates

9-21-2014

I am continually reminded how different La Paz is in comparison to many other cities. In the United States, when we have a natural disaster you hear of many people taking advantage of the situation and break into businesses and begin to loot the contents. I am happy to say this is not what happens in La Paz. Quite frankly it is the opposite. When the hurricane hit the area many were without power and essentials. The population began to respond immediately. Before the Government was able to mobilize the local population was banding in groups and began the clean up the very next day. Humanitarian aid from the people flowed.

I want to take a brief moment and report about some of our very own Baja Pirates families and what they are doing. As many of you know Pedro's brother is the Senator for the State of Baja California Sur which governs La Paz. He led efforts to put together an aid package of food staples to distribute to the families in Las Arenas. Not only did Pedro, Richard and several other Baja Pirates personnel assist in this distribution but they took their own money and augmented the relief so that more were helped. Melina the beautiful lady who makes our daily lunches today made over 60 lunches and with the help of some of our people distributed them to the workers of CFE (their version of Edison) who were repairing the electrical system. Our staff has been working to repair our dock system and already have several boats in the water ready to fish.

I have heard from many of you and I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
