Epic Salmon Action Above Red Bluff

Hello everyone,

The Sacramento Valley salmon season opened yesterday (Friday August 1) for salmon fishing above Red Bluff. The fishing was great!

Sacramento River water flows from Shasta Dam have been running over 9,000 CFS, and this has been bringing up a steady stream of fresh salmon.

Because of the heat, many of those salmon head straight upstream for the cool deep holes in the upper river between Red Bluff and Redding.

Knowing this, we fished the deeper holes like the Barge Hole, and the fishing was fantastic. We had our limits on board by 8:52 am.

Four fish were caught on Flatfish and six were caught on roe. As usual, fresh, properly cured bait was working the best. While we were hooking up right and left with my killer roe and killer sardine cure, other boats were not doing nearly as well. With salmon, attention to detail makes all the difference.

Here's another great picture of the hot action yesterday. You can see the other boats in the area, and there's a big fish on the line. It was just one of many!

If you'd like to holding the rod when the next jumbo salmon slams the bait, then call me at 800-995-5543. I'll get you in on the action. With the right bait in the right place, there's an excellent chance you'll soon be hooked up.

Fish on!
