Norm Kagawa docked his Shogun August 9 after a five-day trip with 29 anglers. "We fished each day for five days," he said. Craig Heberer was chartermaster for the Humboldt State Alumnus trip.
Jim Fujitami of Roseville won the jackpot for a 49-pound yellowtail that took his sardine on a dropper loop weighted with a one-pound chunk of lead. He said he used a 7/0 Eagle Claw hook on 60-pound Big Game line, as Penn 20 reel and a six and a half-foot Star rod.
Mike Shugars of Petaluma won second place for a 35-pound halibut, and John Blevins of Los Gatos was third, for a 33.5-pound albacore.
