Captain Hector Sosa, skipper of the "Aries VIII", reported in with the only sailfish caught this past week and topping that off was the only 3 dorado for the week. The angler, Thomas Ward, Hemlock, MI, said it was rough and bumpy weather during their fishing day but they decided to "tough it out" and stay the course, which paid off for the charter. Mr. Ward was returning back to the snow country with official bragging right for his fishing trip that will leave him with a life-long memory for his winter vacation in the Riviera Maya. The overall fishing report reflected a total of 36 outings that were mostly short trips and resulted in a 14 fish mixed bag catch that included 1 sailfish, 3 dorado, 7 giant barracuda, 1 king mackerel, 7 jack crevalle, 4 amberjack 53 bonito, 38 snappers, 63 triggerfish, 11 strawberry fish, 45 banana fish, 23 soap fish and 4 grouper.



PM Climate: It's been a sun-cloud mix through the week but warm and pleasant days and evenings and temperatures that ranged from 69 nights to 87 daytime highs.


Sea Conditions: A couple of windy and bumpy days early in the week and mellowing out as the week progressed. Surface breezes are flowing mostly from the easterly directions in the 9-12 mph ranges. Sea temps holding at 80 degrees throughout the area.


Best Bait: The bait of choice continues to be the freshly caught and provided ballyhoo.


Bait Supply: Even the full moon phase doesn't slow the supply of fresh baits for the sportfshers and is provided freshly caught on a daily basis.
