"Hiding how you really feel and trying to make everyone happy doesn't make you nice, it just makes you a liar"-Justin O' Connell
My wife posted this quote and it got me thinking a lot. I am going to list 10 things that I feel strongly about that you might not know about me.
#1- Mean people suck! This doesn't mean that I don't still love and pray for them daily but man how it would feel so good to give them a good ass kicking. J I think I will stick to praying and loving cause I would never want to go down to their level. I notice mean people a lot on facebook where they can hide behind their computers and fake screen names. Stop with the jealousy and hurtfulness!!
#2- I am not a fan of competition fly fishing. I know some people might be alright with it but it distracts me personally from the real reason I love to be on the river and that is to feel free.
#3- Seeing big trout in pictures pisses me off. It makes me crave the river even more than I normally do. It's that jealousy thing you know, that part of me wishing it was me or a client with that big fish and not that other guy J. Then I realize how happy that other guy or gal is and then I am alright again..... ha ha
#4- Facebook post about how new anglers are ruining the sport with flat billed hats or their crazy outfits. Why does it matter what they wear or what they do. As long as they are being respectful and having a good time I say, be different, be yourself, have fun and be proud of it!
#5- It's okay to kill fish. I know all you, I only catch and release guys out there, are stunned right now. I am all about the catch and release but if I am craving a trout for dinner I would much rather eat a fresh caught fish than one that is farm raised. I don't like to kill the big fish though; I always put fish over 18 inches back so they can make another angler very happy one day.
#6- I love to have fun on the river. My wife and I have been known to dress up as Big foot and fish to see people's reactions or have dance parties on the boat. Who says fly fishing has to be snooty!!
#7- I cuss a lot in my head on the river! I hate missing fish so much, especially the big ones. Every once in awhile I will say a few words and realize it didn't stay in my head. J..... oops!!
#8- You know that warning sticker that says don't go over 55mph??? Well hopefully it really means don't go slower than 55 mph. The river is calling!! Trailer please hold up!
#9- When I see a huge fish in a spawning area....well I may or may not have thrown a couple streamers towards it to see if it would chase it. Are you judging me right now???? Well, I think you have done it to if you're honest with yourselves!! J
#10- I love meeting new friends on facebook and on the water.M/B> It is life changing when you look at people that have the same hobbies as a possible friend than the opposite and think of them as competition. I see this in the guide community and with new fly fishers a lot. New fly fishers or new guides seem to get looked down upon by people that are already into guiding or fly fishing. These people are probably getting into it for the same reasons as you did long ago. Do you hate yourself for getting into it? If not, then why hate on other people for doing something that is so awesome!!
I hope you liked getting to know me better and remember to be okay with what you believe or don't believe.
