=In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Re-Opening:
The lake will re-open for weekday fishing on Dec.14th. Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The season opener for trout is just a week away. The early stocking schedule is a robust one with 7,500 pounds of Nebraska Tail Walkers scheduled for release in just the first couple of weeks. Look for Lake Wohlford to be one of the prime locations for trout fishing this holiday season and throughout the winter months.

The fishing for catfish, particularly the larger cats, remains excellent. M. Azuma from Encinitas caught a 22.40# catfish on Sunday at the West Buoy Line using cut mackerel. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver. Drop by the ranger station for an excellent dough-bait recipe that works well for either catfish or carp.

Bass are biting in the early mornings and late afternoons. The bass are most often caught near rocky outcroppings and are hitting shad raps, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.

2014 fishing licenses are now available for purchase at the café and would make an excellent gift for any avid fisherman.
