Fish Report for 11-25-2013
This Week anglers found excellent fishing in Mazatalan
11-25-2013

This past week has provided some excellent fishing for the Aries Sportfishing Fleet and there appeared to be no downside from the full moon phase for this area. According to our Mazatlan reporter, Ms. Kitcia Ceja, "the fishing and catching was in high gear this past week and our anglers were very happy". The "Aries IV", skippered by Captain David Cabanillas, landed the only blue marlin for the week and added to his fishing day with a sailfish. The "Aries III" was high boat for the week with 8 sailfish for a single day that included 6 releases. The overall catch report for a total of 12 days fished reflected 1 blue marlin, 2 stripers, 20 sailfish, (11 released) and 1 dorado. The inshore super pangas reportting in for 6 days fished reflected 2 dorado, 21 snappers 16 triggerfish and 4 rock perch.
Mazatlan Climate: A partly cloudy week with intermittent sunny periods. Overall, a very pleasant week in Mazatlan with temps that ranged from 65 nights to 84 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: A great week on the water from the Marina El Cid. Sea temps varied from 82 inshore to 83-84 for the offshore waters and even with the full moon, the swells were small to none at all. Surface breezes varied from 8-11 mph, from the westerly directions.
Best Fishing Area: Continues to start at about 15 miles out to the southwest of the Marina El Cid, with the boats fishing outbound from there. Water clarity is a perfect crystal blue throughout this area.
Best Bait/Lure: The rigged baits were best for the billfish, including the blue marlin and stripers.
Bait Supply: An excellent supply of both, fresh baits for rigging and live bait for those anglers liking the live bait option. Bait is $1.00 per live bait.
