Fish Report for 10-17-2013
The San Diego Fleet's Bluefin Season is proving noteworthy
10-17-2013
Bill Roecker
The most amazing bluefin season ever for San Diego continues. I spoke with Fisherman's Landing rep Andy Morita shortly after he arrived back at the landing October 16. "I was fishing aboard Scott Meisel's Condor yesterday," he told me. "We fished at about 130 miles, so it was a 13-hour run each way. The fishing was excellent, and the boat brought home about 60 bluefin and limits of yellowtail.
"Most of the guys, including me, were fishing with a sardine on a 3/0 hook tied to 40-pound fluorocarbon," Andy continued, "although I saw a few guys dropping jigs over the side. I don't know that anything came on the jig, though. I got three nice bluefin for myself. They were like the rest of 'em, about 40 to 50 pounds."
