Wohlford Lake Staff
Park Hours: 6:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M. (closed weekdays, open weekends only)
Dock Closes: 6:30 P.M.
Last Plant: 1,000 lbs. of Channel Catfish Wednesday, July 31st
Next Plant: Trout in December
Water Temperature: At surface 80.78 f., 3.79 D.O. @ 15' 81.32 f., 3.89 D.O.
Water Level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
The lake will be closed during the weekdays and open weekends only through the fall. We will re-open for weekday fishing at the time of the first trout plant in December. Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
Catfish are being caught throughout the lake. The most popular baits are chicken liver and cut mackerel. There is a doughbait recipe that works well for Catfish and Carp available upon request at the ranger station.
Small to medium sized Bass are biting mostly in the early mornings and late afternoons. The Bass are most often caught near rocky outcroppings and are hitting shad raps, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
Crappie prefer the cover of shade or submerged willows in which to hide. The best baits are Crappie jigs and live golden shiners.
