Wohlford Lake Staff

Park Hours: 6:00 A.M. - 7:30 P.M. (Park closes weekdays beginning Sept 3rd)
Dock Closes: 7:00 P.M.
Last Plant: 1,000 lbs. of Channel Catfish Wednesday, July 31st
Next Plant: Trout in December
Water Temperature: At surface 80.24 f., 6.10 D.O. @ 15' 79.70 f.,5.52 D.O.
Water Level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.

In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

The lake will be closed during the weekdays and open weekends only beginning September 3rd and remain so through the fall. We will re-open for weekday fishing at the time of the first trout plant in December. Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake. Lake Wohlford cats prefer chicken liver or cut mackerel. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works great on both Catfish and Carp.

The Bass can be found lingering around structure and are susceptible to crawdads, shad raps, and dark colored plastics.

Crappie can be caught in the early morning hours and are often found in shady places or around submerged willows. They respond best to finger jigs or live golden shiners.

Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
