In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Half day Bass boats are available weekdays for 35$ each.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake and seem all the more prevalent now due to the warmer temperatures. Lake Wohlford cats prefer chicken liver or cut mackerel. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works great on both Catfish and Carp.

An abundance of bait fish has spurred the Bass bite bringing them in tight to shore particularly in the early mornings. Kevin Gallego of San Marcos caught and released a 5.95# Bass Saturday off the South Shore Rock Pile using a plastic worm. The Bass can be found lingering around structure and are susceptible to crawdads, shad raps, and dark colored plastics.
