Winnie Houston of Buena Park won first place on the Vagabond on a three-day trip with skipper Mike Lackey when the boat returned to Point Loma Sportfishing August 16. She used the boat's tackle to do the job on a 28-pound yellowtail, with a sardine and a 2/0 hook on 30-pound Soft Steel line. Skipper Lackey said the rig had a Shimano 15-30 reel on a Seeker 670 rod.
Winnie posed with Rick Zavits of Yucca Valley, who won second place for a 26.8-pound yellowtail; John McAvoy of Jackson, WY, third place; and Glenn Brossus of Long Beach, who found an 18.8-pound dorado.
