Enter Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament
8-26-2013
Wayne Bisbee
Hola Compadres,
Summer is almost gone and that means there's only 1 Week Left to get your Early Bird entry in for the Los Cabos Offshore and the Black & Blue. Pay your base entry fee for either or both tournaments and you'll automatically earn a chance for a free entry to next year's events. The final deadline is August 31.
Go Digital
Speaking of entering the tournaments, you can now do everything on-line. That's right, we've gone digital. Register your team, list your boat, pay entry fees and optional jackpots, share photos, swap stories. It's all available on Bisbee's Registrqation. Check it out and get signed up today with the no-hassle, no-fuss, no-waiting-in-line registration. You can also pay by credit card when registering on line to get those ever-valuable airline miles, and an e-check payment option will be plugged in shortly, too.
2013 ECO
We had another fantastic week at East Cape in July, as 70 boats competed for just over $620,000 in prize money. Team Hayseeds/Eclipse brought in the biggest marlin at 337 pounds. We also weighed a 192-pound yellowfin and close to a 48-pound dorado. Thanks again to our Presenting Sponsor Cabo Riviera and our host Hotel Buena Vista Beach Resort for another successful event, which in the next year or two will join the chosen few $1 Million tournaments in the world.
Cabo Riviera News
If you haven't been by lately, there are plenty of changes happening at Cabo Riviera. Crews are hard at work on the development infrastructure, the beautiful beach club is open and new houses are going up daily. Block off some time during your upcoming Cabo trip to check out the progress. And I'd like to say good-bye and best wishes to Nydia Altamarino, our long-time Cabo Riviera liaison and hello to her replacement, Pamela Barnetche. Nydia is moving to Texas to enjoy married life, and Pam will now work with us on all things tournament-related. Thanks again Cabo Riviera for all your generous support!
Get Your Motors Running
Well, get your marlin racing, actually. That's right, the Bisbee's Eastern Pacific Division of the IGFA Great Marlin Race is officially on. We've teamed up with the International Game Fish Association and Stanford University to advance billfish science in a very cool way. We're looking for teams that would like to sponsor a pop-up satellite archival tag (PSATs) and tag a marlin before, during or after the LCO or B&B. These tags are designed to release after 180 days and transmit their data to an orbiting satellite. The team whose single marlin travels the farthest will receive a trophy and a free satellite tag at the 2014 tournament. Each tag costs $5,500, so if you're a race fan and would like to sponsor one on behalf of science, shoot me an email or give me a call.
Free Bisbee's Marlin World e-Magazine Because you're a close, personal friend and good-looking to boot, I'm going to give you a free subscription to Bisbee's Marlin World, our new digital (and print) magazine that's dedicated to the sport of big-game fishing. Editor Paul Watson and his publishing team are bringing news, tournament highlights and tips from across the globe straight to your laptop every couple of months. And if you've got some great photos or an interesting story, Paul wants to hear from you. Contact him at ofcfilmcrew@gmail.com
That's it for now. Don't forget about the Early Bird deadline and we'll see you soon, where the fish are!
