Fish Report for 8-22-2013
The offshore fishing at Zihuatanejo continues to be very good, especially for the sailfish
8-22-2013
Larry Edwards
The offshore fishing from Zihuatanejo continues to be very good, especially for the sailfish, just a few miles out in front of the Bay. Unfortunately, the dorado seemed to have left for another area but may show up again, unannounced. Most of the inshore fish have moved from the area resulting from the opening of the mouth of the lagoon at Barra de Potosi Village, causing the water to dirty up for a couple of days. The roosterfish have disappeared for a full week as of today and may just have gone to deeper and cleaner waters. Overall, the sailfish continue to be eager biters and the full moon has not seemed to have any effect on the action.
IZ Climate: Mostly cloudy days this week with thunder showers mostly in the mountains from Thursday thru Sunday and temps that ranged from 73 nights to 94 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Mostly calm throughout the area with surface breezes in the 5-10 mph ranges and sea temps that were stable at 86-87 degrees.
Best Fishing Area: Just 7 miles out in front of the Bay where the super clean water begins. Excellent numbers on sailfish for the anglers but the marlin seemed to have retreated from the area for now.
Best Bait/Lure: The rigged baits have been the hot ticket for the sailfish and a number of boats have been producing double hook-ups with the sailfish.
