Central Sierras/Highway 4 Fishing Report July 25th, 2007

The No. Fork of the Stanislaus has been slower this past week. Bait casters should try split-shotting nightcrawlers, salmon eggs, Gulp Nightcrawlers, and crickets. Fly fishermen have success using stimulators, nymphs, woolly buggers, and white midge flies. Lure casters should try Panther Martin spinners, Kastmasters, and Rapalas. White Pines Lake has been producing fish early in the morning and late in the evening. Try using floating Power Eggs, the new Gulp Power Bait, and Gulp Nightcrawlers on a 30" to 36" leader.

Lake Alpine just had their trout derby but as of today I have not received the results. I will post the results at once I do get them. Bait casters should try floating Power Eggs, the new Gulp Power Bait, inflated nightcrawlers, and Gulp Nightcrawlers. Lure casters should try Kastmasters, Rapalas, and Panther Martin spinners. Fly casters should try woolly buggers, and nymphs.

Mosquito Lakes is a great place for an outing. Bait casters should try floating Power Eggs, the new Gulp Power Bait, and inflated nightcrawlers on a 25" to 30" leader. Lure casters should try Panther Martin spinners, and Kastmasters. Fly casters should try mosquitoes, nymphs, and woolly buggers.

Lake Alpine will be hosting their annual Trout Derby this Saturday July 21st. The entry fee for adults is $7.00 and for children under 16 is $3.00. Proceeds will be used for planting more trophy trout in the lake. The derby starts at sunrise and final weigh-in is at 5:00 P.M. with prizes given out immediately. Fishing along the Hwy 4 corridor has been excellent. The North Fork of the Stanislaus has been planted again this week. Bait casters should try split-shotting crickets, nightcrawlers, the new Gulp Power Bait, Gulp Nightcrawlers, Gulp Eggs, salmon eggs, and floating Power Eggs using a 15" to 20" leader. Lure casters should try Rapalas, Kastmasters, Rooster Tails, and Panther Martin Spinners. Fly casters should try nymphs, woolly buggers, ants, and mayflies.
